Century of Celebration: Grade Seven Interdisciplinary Unit
December 1st to December 22nd, 2006
Phase ONE
Your Group will develop a MIND MAP on the large paper provided
- Your mind map should show IMPORTANT topics from your era. These would include things like: inventions/discoveries, people, transporation, communications, technology, culture (ie. food, fads, fashions,etc), entertainment (ie. movies, TV, music, etc), important events, sports, achievements, famous buildings, a famous human creation (art, written,etc).
- Include 1 or 2 concise supporting details where appropriate
- Use the library books provided to develop your mind map.

- Make a good copy of your completed mind map for display at your station.
Now, as a group, select 1 "event" per person (minimum) that you discovered about your era that appears on your mind map. Choose events that were important and that interest your group members.
- The events you choose could have occurred anywhere on earth but try to have at least one event from several countries. No more than three events should come from any one country.
- Try NOT to choose
- One of your events must have to do with SASKATCHEWAN specifically.
Divide the "events" you have selected among the group members.
- Each group member might research one or more events alone, AND/OR you may decide to work as partners on several of the events
- Your research should uncover answers to the basic Who, What, When Where and Why (or How) questions about each event.
- You should have at least two sources of information for each. Be sure to include these resources on the display.
Make a visual presentation of each of your events.
- These visual presentations might take the form of a poster, a scrapbook, a flip chart, or an album
- They will be displayed at your station.
- Each visual representation should include:
i. written information (be sure this is summarized and written in outline format. Make your writing big enough for people passing your display
ii. facts and figures (where required)
iii. pictures, diagrams and/or drawings
iv. any other ideas you have related to the event
v. your description could be presented as a “fact list” or “did you know”
